At a recent Business Networking South Leicestershire (BNSL) meeting, we were delighted to hear from Christopher Davies of Bamboozle Theatre Company, a remarkable Leicester-based charity that has been transforming the lives of children with complex needs through immersive theatre for over 30 years.

“The River”
Christopher spoke about one of Bamboozle’s latest productions, The River, an immersive theatrical experience that takes children on a sensory journey through sound, movement, music and storytelling.
Rather than sitting and watching a performance, children become part of the story itself, interacting directly with the actors and environment throughout the production.

“Our Backyard”
Christopher also introduced members to Our Backyard, a wonderful programme offering bespoke sessions tailored to the individual needs of each child.
These sessions provide countless opportunities for one-to-one interaction between performers and children, creating safe, engaging environments where children can explore, communicate and build confidence through play and creativity.
Every session is carefully adapted to meet the specific sensory and developmental needs of those taking part.

Why Bamboozle’s Work Matters
Christopher explained that every production is designed around the child—not the other way around.
Many of the children Bamboozle supports have limited opportunities to engage with conventional theatre or live performances. Through carefully designed sensory experiences, music, movement and personal interaction, Bamboozle enables children to communicate, participate and experience the joy of theatre in a way that works for them.
