When people think of business networking, they often focus on leads and referrals. And yes, since joining Business Networking South Leicestershire (BNSL), I’ve received a consistent flow of quality leads that have directly benefited Helios Web Design. But what really sets BNSL apart is the broader value of membership – the advice, support, and friendships I’ve gained have been equally, if not more, valuable.
Over the past six months, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a brilliant group of professionals within BNSL. Here are just a few who have made a big difference to me personally and professionally:
-
Financial Planning – Eddie Royce from True Potential LLP has helped me get my financial planning in order. He now manages my ISA and has provided clear, jargon-free advice that’s helped me plan more confidently for the future.
-
Accounting Help – Tom Simpson, Senior Partner at Torr Waterfield Accountants in Leicester, has provided straightforward and effective advice, helping me stay on top of my accounts and tax planning.
-
Digital Printing & Branded T-Shirts – Richard Taylor at Tailor Made Print supplied high-quality branded T-shirts and printed materials that were spot on and delivered without a hitch.
-
Elder Care Advice – Michaela Forty of Family Care Advice offered empathetic and practical advice when I needed help navigating care options for an elderly relative. Her knowledge and compassion were invaluable.
-
IT Support – For anything Microsoft-related, Simon Goodman from Beyond Beige has been my go-to expert. He’s helped streamline my systems and resolve several technical headaches with ease.
-
Plumbing Services – Roy Lee of Roy Lee Plumbing & Heating has sorted out plumbing issues at home and in the office – everything from taps to radiators – with reliability and great service.
-
Local Advertising – Debbie Heron, owner of Roundabout Hinckley and Roundabout The Villages magazines, offers a fantastic platform for local advertising. I’ve advertised with Roundabout Hinckley and seen an excellent return on investment. It’s one of the most effective forms of local print advertising I’ve used, and Debbie is a pleasure to work with. These are just some of the tangible benefits I’ve experienced through my membership, not to mention the general business advice shared so generously by other experienced business owners in the room. There’s a real spirit of mutual support – a friendly atmosphere that makes it feel like more than just networking; it’s a community.
Before joining BNSL, I tried BNI. Personally, I found it too formal, overly expensive, and not very effective. BNSL is the complete opposite – it’s relaxed, welcoming, and genuinely enjoyable to attend. We meet every Thursday morning at the Ullesthorpe Court Hotel, and I can honestly say it’s a highlight of my week. The breakfast is excellent, too – always a bonus!
If you’re a business owner in the South Leicestershire area and you’re looking for more than just leads – if you want support, advice, and real connections – then I highly recommend giving BNSL a try.

Come along one Thursday morning – you’ll be warmly welcomed, well-fed, and likely walk away with more than just a few business cards.
