Murray explained that the driving force behind starting Clement Safety was his family — his wife Ruth and his son Cobain. Wanting to build something sustainable, values-led and flexible around family life played a key role in his decision to set up his own consultancy.
That personal motivation is reflected in how Murray works with clients: approachable, supportive and focused on doing things properly rather than simply ticking boxes.

A Career Built on Real-World Experience
Murray’s professional background spans several demanding sectors, giving him a strong practical understanding of risk, responsibility and compliance.
- Royal Air Force: Murray joined the RAF at just 16 and served for 8 years, developing discipline, structure and accountability early in his career.
- Care Sector & Secure Environments (1999–2013): From 1999 to 2013, he worked in the care sector, including secure prisons and children’s care homes, environments where safety, safeguarding and procedures are critical.
- Health & Safety Services (from 2013): From 2013 onwards, Murray worked selling and advising on Health & Safety policies for businesses across the UK, gaining in-depth knowledge of compliance requirements across multiple industries.
After several years in this role, Murray decided it was time to branch out on his own — leading to the creation of Clement Safety Ltd.
